"Disorderly Conduct," oil on panel by Jill Pankey
Satellite Space exhibits focus on female figure, archetypal roles
(July 15, 2002)--The University of Texas at San Antonio Department of Art and Art History presents "Disorderly Conduct" and "Interiority," works of contemporary figurative paintings by Jill Pankey and Kitty Welsh-Dudics through July 28 at the UTSA Satellite Space at the Blue Star Arts Complex, located at 115 Blue Star, S. Alamo and Probandt.
The exhibits focus on the female figure through color, movement and the senses, as well as archetypal women's roles.
Pankey, an adjunct faculty member at Southwest Texas State University, presents a series of female figures in a variety of settings, interactions and body types. Welsh-Dudics, professor of art at Del Mar College, records sensations that are universal using water used as a metaphor for the unconscious.
Gallery hours are 12-6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Admission is free and open to the public.
