First day of online summer registration is a 'Banner' day
(March 19, 2002)--Following a brief delay getting under way, Monday's registration
for summer 2002 classes at UTSA went on to set a record for the largest number
of students ever to register this early for summer classes... nearly 800 the
first day.
The success came during the inaugural "live" use of the registration
component of UTSA's new automated student access program (ASAP)/BANNER-2000.
From 8:30 a.m-5 p.m., nearly 500 students registered, according to Jeffrey Noyes, chief information officer and associate vice president for information technology. Overnight, another 300 students completed the process.
"The system is handling the traffic really well," said University
Registrar Joe DeCristoforo, who added the most frequently asked question
involved BANNER's use of MMDDYY DOB student information for system log-ons,
rather than the ASAP PIN used previously.
DeCristoforo also said some academic advisers temporarily lost access to specific
screens. "These difficulties were resolved on a case-by-case basis,"
he said.
