UTSA students to present audience-participation comedy
(March 25, 2002)--The Alamo City Actors Guild (ACAG), a University of Texas at San Antonio student organization, will present "The Clumsy Custard Horror Show" at 7:30 p.m. April 2,3 and 5 and 1 p.m. April 6 in the University Center Retama Auditorium (Room 2.02.02) at the 1604 Campus and 7:30 p.m. April 9-12 in the Buena Vista Street Building Theater at the Downtown Campus.
The comedy by William Gleason, writer of the "Pink Panther" movies, involves mistaken identity and deception in the story of a king and his daughter who disagree on who is suitable to marry her. "It's sure to be fun for everyone," said Director Jennifer Schultz. "There is a lot of audience participation, and some audience members may even find themselves in the show."
ACAG is the oldest UTSA student theater group and presents two productions each year. Founded in the 1980s as the Bargain Basement Players, the group has presented such plays as "Death of a Salesman," "Arsenic and Old Lace," "The Seagull" and "Picnic."
The organization's new improvisational comedy troupe, The Skitzophrenics, has performed at UTSA events, and is seeking actors, writers, camera operators and film editors. For more information, e-mail Adam Vogel.
Tickets for "The Clumsy Custard Horror Show" are $5 for general
admission and $4 for students at the University Center ticket office at the
1604 Campus. For more information, contact Chris Scheel at (210) 313-8310
or visit the Alamo City Actors
Guild Web site.
