Jahan Eftekhar UTSA associate professor of mechanical engineering

UTSA auto collision expert to speak March 28

(March 22, 2002)—Jahan Eftekhar, UTSA associate professor of mechanical engineering, will speak on "Mechanics of Cervical Spine Injury in Rear-End Collisions" at 4 p.m. March 28 in Science Building Room 2.03.12 on the 1604 Campus.

Eftekhar has 16 years of experience in automobile industry research including automotive component evaluation and design. His presentation will focus on how injuries occur in low-speed collisions when minor or no damage is sustained by the vehicles.

He received his doctorate and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and has taught over 30 different courses at UTSA. Eftekhar also serves as the faculty advisor for UTSA's student chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers.

The Engineering Research Seminar Series is sponsored by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering and San Antonio Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. The presentation is free and open to the public.
