Aramark, UTSA to sponsor '2002 Food Expo'
(March 21, 2002)--What part do campus-dining patrons play in food pricing and selection? Learn the answer to this question and more at the "2002 Food Expo," which will be 2-4 p.m. Monday, March 25 at the UTSA 1604 Campus in the University Center Laurel Room.
During the first-of-its-kind event for UTSA and the Aramark Corp., members of the Tri-Campus community will be able to take a virtual tour of Aramark's food service operations. Aramark staff will be on hand to answer questions, and there will be interactive multimedia displays.
Information will be available on how Aramark reinvests sales proceeds back into the campus, largely through a student-employment program.
Representatives of several of Aramarks's national vendors and franchise partners, such as Burger King, Tyson, Pepsi and Riches Dough Pizza will also take part, according to Eric Geiger, manager of Aramark operations at UTSA. There will also be drawings for prizes.
"Aramark has never held an event like this anywhere before, and our Southwest Regional Vice President, Mark Nelson, will be in San Antonio for the expo," said Geiger. "The UTSA Food Expo may become a model for similar events at other campuses."
Corinne Vela-Zapata, director of business services for UTSA, said, "This event helps us showcase the behind-the-scenes operations and how choices are incorporated into the dining services day-to-day operations."
All members of the Tri-Campus community are invited to attend.
