ITC's Texas Folklife Festival needs volunteers

(March 28, 2002)--The 31st annual Texas Folklife Festival (TFF) at the Institute of Texan Cultures is seeking volunteers... and you are needed! The festival takes place June 6-9, and volunteers are necessary in various areas of the festival in order to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors.

Volunteering at TFF is a great place to meet new people, show your community spirit, have fun, listen to great music and enjoy fantastic food. Becoming a volunteer also entitles you to free admission for all four days of the fest. Company and group volunteers can benefit as well by helping provide community service exposure for their companies and building team spirit.

Each volunteer will attend a training session to receive briefings on job descriptions, check-in procedures, rules and guidelines, credentials and a wristband for free admission.

To become a TFF volunteer, download an application, call the Texas Folklife Festival Volunteer Hotline at (210) 458-2216 or e-mail ITC Special Events.

The Institute of Texan Cultures, one of the three campuses of the University of Texas at San Antonio, is an educational center concerned with the history and diverse cultures of Texas. For more information, call (210) 458-2216 or visit the ITC Web site.
