Education official to speak at luncheon honoring Cardenas
(May 10, 2002)--Newly appointed Texas Commissioner of Education Felipe T. Alanis will be the guest speaker at a May 15 luncheon honoring College of Education and Human Development Dean Blandina "Bambi" Cardenas.
Alanis, formerly the UT System's associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, is the first Hispanic appointed to the post.
Co-sponsored by UTSA and the San Antonio Women's Chamber of Commerce with
support from H.E.B., the luncheon will be held at the UTSA Downtown Campus
Frio Street Building. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., and the luncheon
begins at noon.
The event is open to members of the Tri-Campus community and to the public.
Tickets are $30 each; tables seating 10 are $300. Proceeds will benefit scholarships
at UTSA. Reservations must be made by May 13. To make reservations or for
