UTSA hosts 'San Antonio Nonprofit Day' conference
(May 3, 2002)--The second annual San Antonio Nonprofit Day will be observed May 17 with a conference at the University of Texas at San Antonio geared to those who work in the nonprofit sector and those who are interested in learning more about the nonprofit community.
"Learning to Lead in a Climate of Change," which will be at the UTSA Downtown Campus Frio Street Building, is recommended for nonprofit executive directors, board members and volunteers. San Antonio has more than 2,000 nonprofit organizations offering services to a diverse clientele ranging from food pantries and battered women shelters to universities and technological initiatives.
San Antonio Nonprofit Day will convene at 7:30 a.m. with a breakfast and awards presentation recognizing executive and community champions of the year.
Former Texas senator and chancellor of the Texas Tech University System John T. Montford, now senior vice president for external affairs at SBC Communications Inc., will be the luncheon keynote speaker.
There will also be morning and afternoon workshops on topics in leadership, including a special afternoon presentation, "Awakening the Eye of A Leader: Fusion Challenge," by Robert Lengel, UTSA associate dean for executive education and director of the Center for Professional Excellence.
Co-sponsored by the Nonprofit Resource Center of Texas, San Antonio Nonprofit Council and UTSA, the event is limited to 100 registrants. Registration for the day, including breakfast, luncheon and sessions, is $139 general admission or $99 for those who are affiliated with one of the sponsoring groups. The fee for attending either the breakfast or luncheon is $29 per event.
The deadline for registration is 5 p.m. May 14. To register or for
