Luna scholarship recipients announced at UTSA Downtown Campus
(Nov. 21, 2002)--Jose Buso Jr. and fellow UTSA student Melissa Barrayo are the 2002 recipients of the Sen. Gregory Luna Memorial Endowed Scholarship. A reception was held Nov. 20 at the UTSA Downtown Campus to honor the students and to remember the late senator, who would have turned 70 on Nov. 17.

Established by family, friends, former colleagues and constituents of the longtime Texas legislator shortly after his death in November 1999, the scholarship was endowed the following year. A portion of the fund is earmarked for graduates of Lanier High School, Luna's alma mater.
