Institute of Texan Cultures presents 'Nacimiento: A Fantasy Christmas Village'
(Nov. 26, 2002)--"Nacimiento: A Fantasy Christmas Village" will be on display Dec. 8, 2002-Feb. 9, 2003 at the Institute of Texan Cultures Exhibit Floor. Nacimientos are Hispanic nativity scenes that come from a rich tradition and are created from a variety of materials.
For the first time in more than 30 holiday seasons, renowned nacimiento creator Gloria Cadena will supervise the construction of an original nacimiento in a public place. Cadena has received national media attention for building her unique fantasy Christmas village.
What started in 1972 as a small nativity scene on a chest, grew into a sweeping display that took weeks to build. This season she has brought her unique display to ITC to be shared with the public for the first time.
