Downtown Campus health fair offers health screenings for students

(Nov. 12, 2002)--More than 20 community health agencies will be at the Frio Street Building Commons at the Downtown Campus from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 to promote wellness and provide quality health services and information to students and faculty in a fun and interactive environment.

The health fair is a good way for students to learn more about their health and provides time-saving services, according to Derrick Neal, Student Health Services health educator intern. The agencies offer "a reminder of things you don't think about."

"It's easy for college students to not think about being healthy," Neal says.

Free services to be offered at the event are glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and body fat percent screenings. Additional services will include massages, chiropractic spine/back assessments, nutrition counseling and a multitude of local resources and agencies answering questions and providing health information important to students.
