UTSA hosts inaugural Presidential Lecture Series Nov. 20
(Nov. 19, 2002)--The University of Texas at San Antonio Presidential Lecture Series welcomes G. Joan Holt, professor and senior research scientist at the Marine Science Institute, University of Texas, Austin, for a lecture at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 in Science Building Room 2.03.12 on the 1604 Campus.
Holt's presentation, "The Role of Fish Culture in Conserving Marine Resources," will discuss the world's declining fish populations as a result of over-fishing, habitat degradation and pollution.
Holt has been involved throughout her career in the study of marine science and has written or been cited in over 125 articles and publications. She is an editorial board member of several publications including Gulf of Mexico Science and Progressive Fish-Culturalist.
Holt receive her Ph.D in fisheries science at Texas A&M University and her master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington.
