Topping-out ceremony signals progress on IED construction
(Oct. 22, 2002)--Workmen, silhouetted against a light autumn fog, secure a tree to a girder on top of the Institute for Economic Development building, under construction at the Downtown Campus in a traditional "topping-out" ceremony. Staff members from the IED's 10 programs concluded a meeting Monday morning just in time to watch the final piece of structural steel and the tree being hoisted into place.
Construction at the Downtown Campus on the permanent facility for the UTSA
Institute for Economic Development is moving along steadily. About one-third
of the $6.4 million structure is complete, with project completion scheduled
for late spring 2003.
