Communications CEO says education changed his life

(Oct. 30, 2002)--Ernest Bromley, chairman and chief executive officer of Bromley Communications, was the keynote speaker for the Frost Bank Distinguished Lecture Series Oct. 30 in the Business Building Auditorium on the 1604 Campus. Bromley, who described his life story as "living in chaos," said his education helped him change his life from beginnings as a fry cook and ditch digger to a marketing researcher, and ultimately a founding member of a marketing communications company in 1981.

Shown above, Bromley (third from left) was joined after the lecture by (from left) UTSA President Ricardo Romo; Don Frost, Frost Bank president, San Antonio region; and College of Business Dean Bruce Bublitz.

After earning at UTSA both a bachelor's degree in political science and an M.B.A, Bromley taught economics in UTSA's College of Business and then worked for several organizations in marketing research before helping to found Bromley Communications. A pioneer in his field, Bromley has built the agency to be the leading Hispanic marketing communications company.

Bromley Communications is a full-service strategic marketing communications company with 130 employees and yearly billings in excess of $160 million. Bromley Communications was twice named Southwest "Agency of the Year" by Adweek magazine.

The Frost Bank Distinguished Lecture Series brings prominent business and community leaders to UTSA to share their knowledge and experiences with students and others in the university and business community. The lecture series, which began in 1988, presents an opportunity to broaden understanding of the business world and the individuals who lead it.
