UTSA 2002 SECC campaign kicks off Tuesday
(Oct. 14, 2002)--UTSA's 2002 United Way/State Employee Charitable Contribution (SECC) campaign kicks-off Tuesday morning with a breakfast and campaign overview presentation for area representatives at 8:30 a.m. in the Biosciences Building Tom Loeffler Room 3.03.02.
President Ricardo Romo will provide opening remarks and introduce 2002 United Way Campaign Chairman Jean Gaulin. This year's UTSA SECC campaign coordinator is Donna Hogan, assistant director of public services for UTSA libraries.
To make the campaign more efficient, UTSA is debuting a new on-line contribution Web site designed to enable donors to pledge on-line as well as provide links to a FAQ (frequently asked questions) page. An overview presentation of the new on-line contribution Web site will follow the speakers remarks at the kick-off breakfast.
Last week area representatives visited the Davidson Home for Respite Care in Downtown San Antonio. The home takes care of 15-20 children a day who have been abused, neglected or suffer from developmental problems such as cerebral palsy or autism.
Last year UTSA's efforts helped the United Way of Bexar County raise over $38 million dollars for 98 funded agencies, despite the tragic events of Sept. 11. UTSA's Tri-Campus contributions totalled over $113,000.
In 2000, UTSA received two state awards for its high level of United Way participation. UTSA recorded the largest per capita giving in the state and had the largest increase in numbers of donations among all components of the UT System. The percent of UTSA employees participating in United Way increased from 36 to 46 percent during the 2000 campaign.
