UTSA/SECC Information Fairs Oct. 30-31

(Oct. 28, 2002)--The University of Texas at San Antonio will host a State Employee Charitable Contribution (SECC) campaign information fair from 11-2 Wednesday, Oct. 30 under the Sombrilla on the 1604 Campus. UTSA/SECC representatives and volunteers will distribute information about this year's campaign to faculty, staff and students.

Donations will be accepted and contributors at various levels will receive Sea World discount coupons or game cards from Dave and Busters. Door prizes will also be awarded for a small donation to the campaign.

Members of the Downtown Campus community are invited to attend an information session about this year's State Employees Charitable Campaign from 9 - 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 in the Buena Vista Street Building Meeting/Assembly Room:

Ice cream bars and other refreshments will be served, and there will be doorprizes, including cups, pencils, UTSA pennants, pens and stickers from K-16 Initiatives and Honors College; notepad-paperclip holders; and a five-pound Hershey bar, Blue Crew T-shirts and ticket booklets for UTSA athletic events, courtesy of athletics.

According to Downtown Campus SECC co-chairs Gina Mendez and Lyssa Garza, a key goal for UTSA this year is to have 100 percent participation in the campaign.

This year's SECC campaign goal is $120,000 with a participation rate of 55 percent, last year UTSA's Tri-Campus community contributions surpassed $113,000 with 49 percent participation. UTSA's efforts helped United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County raise over $38 million dollars despite the tragic events of Sept. 11.
