Fiesta Under the Stars

'Fiesta Under the Stars' features music of Richard Rodgers

(April 24, 2003)--The UTSA Department of Music presents the annual "Fiesta Under the Stars" performance (an official Fiesta San Antonio event) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the UTSA Convocation Center on the 1604 Campus.

The theme for 2003 is "A Celebration of the Music of Richard Rodgers," and will feature the UTSA Wind Ensemble playing "Victory at Sea" and "Oklahoma," the Concert Choir singing a Rodgers and Hart medley, and the UTSA Orchestra playing music from "Carousel." The grand finale by the orchestra and choir will include the beloved "Climb Every Mountain" from the "Sound of Music."

Other ensembles will perform selections in addition to faculty soloists. Soprano Linda Poetschke, baritone Bill McCrary, baritone Gary Mabry, tenor Michael Burgess and cellist Andrea Yun will perform selections from "No Strings," "Babes in Arms," "South Pacific" and "Spring is Here."

A meal will be served at the gala evening. Proceeds benefit UTSA music scholarships and student programs.

Ticket are $8 general admission ($5 for groups of 10 or more), $25 reserved seating with meal and wine, $450+ Stellar Tables for 6 or more with closer seating and dinner service with wine, and $1,000 Platinum Stellar Tables for up to 8 with preferred seating, dinner/wine service.
