UTSA Faculty Honors Convocation set for April 30

(April 28, 2003)--UTSA faculty, staff and friends are invited to attend the Faculty Honors Convocation, a ceremony honoring recipients of the following awards: the President's Distinguished Achievement Award, the Chancellor's Council Outstanding Teaching Award, the Piper Professor Award, and the Richard S. Howe Excellence Award for Service to Undergraduate Students.

The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. April 30, in the Business Building University Room (2.06.04) at the UTSA 1604 Campus. A reception will follow.

Profiles of the honorees will appear this week in UTSA Today.

The winners of the Piper, Chancellor's and Howe awards will be announced at the ceremony.

Honorees include:

Nandini Kannan, management science and statistics

Melvin Laracey, political science and geography

Craig Blount, architecture

Francisco Durand, political science and geography

Donald Lien, economics

Ken Little, art and art history

Manuel P. Berriozabal, applied mathematics

Mark Blizard, architecture

Vince DiMartino (posthumous award), economics
