UTSA student awarded 2003 NSF graduate fellowship
(April 28, 2003)--University of Texas at San Antonio senior anthropology major Sarah Luna was awarded a 2003 National Science Foundation (NSF) graduate fellowship.
The three-year award carries an annual stipend of $27,500 and a yearly cost-of-education allowance of $10,500 paid to the Fellow's institution in lieu of tuition and fees.
Luna plans to study cultural anthropology with an emphasis on women and gender studies and has worked on research in archaeology and cultural anthropology with Laura Levi, associate professor of anthropology. She will graduate from the Honors College in May.
Leah Figueroa, another member of the Honors College, received honorable mention in the competition. Figueroa is a senior psychology major who plans to pursue a Ph.D. in social psychology.
