New UTSA Television news service debuts programming

(April 4, 2003)-UTSA Television, a new internal news service for the university community has added new programming about special programs and events at UTSA.

Included in the programming is a PowerPoint presentation displaying the new UTSA Television logo, broadcast television news stories involving UTSA and a new segment "Conversations with Poet Maya Angelou" covering education and the poet's personal experiences in San Antonio.

Occasionally during the war with Iraq, UTSA Television has included programming about breaking news about the war.

"This is a special service we have been able to provide members of the university community," said David Gabler, assistant vice president for university communications. "Although we have received some calls from individuals who wish that we could air the news programming 24 hours a day, we do not have an agreement with the cable provider to do so."

When there is breaking news about the war, he added, the university will do what it can to provide appropriate news coverage.

If you would like your UTSA event or news to be considered for promotion on UTSA Television, contact Kris Rodriguez at (210) 458-5116.
