UTSA residence hall room featured live on local TV show
(Aug. 20, 2003)--A UTSA residence hall room underwent a makeover today live on WOAI-TV's "San Antonio Living."
Sponsored by the Direct Marketing Association and retailer Bed, Bath and Beyond, WOAI-TV reporter Shelly Miles presented a "dorm-room makeover" segment of the local program. The marketing association does makeovers each year at universities around the country.
Last week Miles taped a view of the empty room at Chisholm Hall, and returned this week with bedding, electronics and some practical items to create the new decor.
Pictured are Chisholm Hall resident assistants Stephanie Schorr, Houston sophomore, and Jessica Curtis, Missoula, Mont., sophomore, who took off a few minutes from signing in new residents to check out the decorated room.
A representative of the retailer used brightly colored furnishings on one side of the room and earth tones on the other to demonstrate decorating alternatives.
Items on display included an electric mini-cooler for canned sodas, a vinyl computer keyboard that rolls up for storage when homework is completed, a paper shredder, a collapsible clothes hamper, stilts to provide more storage space under the bed, desk lamps, odor-remover-in-a-bag and a coffeemaker that simultaneously brews java in two insulated mugs.
