Institute of Texan Cultures offers range of classes for retirees

(Aug. 11, 2003)--The Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) will offer a semester of adult education Sept. 8-Dec. 11 through the Academy of Learning in Retirement (ALIR) with classes for people 50 years and older.

"At ALIR, people can learn and enjoy great, new friendships," said Jessica Sauceda, ALIR coordinator. ALIR welcomes people with all levels of education; all that is required is an interest in learning.

Registration for the fall semester will be 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sept. 2-4 in the ITC Multipurpose Room. For a one-time fee of $90, a student can register for as many courses as desired on topics including creative computing and the Internet, watercolor, writing, current events, juggling, great books, Shakespeare, World War II, classical music, Spanish, French, German, and wine appreciation.

Students are responsible for incidental costs such textbooks, parking, materials, field trips or social activities.
