Texas Folklife Festival earns state marketing award

(Aug. 8, 2003)--The Texas Folklife Festival (TFF), sponsored each year in June by UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC), earned a first-place award from the Texas Festivals and Events Association (TFEA) at its annual July conference.

The festival entry was judged by the International Festivals and Events Association and won first place in its respective budget class in the best pin or button category.

TFEA strives to educate, promote and strengthen the festivals and events industry. The TFEA marketing awards program recognizes excellence in festival promotional campaigns.

TFF presents authentic foods, traditional dance, homemade crafts and cultural music from more than 40 ethnic groups from around the world. The 33rd annual Texas Folklife Festival will be June 10-13, 2004, at the ITC in downtown San Antonio.

The festival is presented by the ITC, one of the three campuses of The University of Texas at San Antonio, as an extension of its role as a statewide educational center. For more information about the festival, call 210-458-2390 or visit the Institute of Texan Cultures Web site.
