Denton memorial scholarship established in College of Business
(Feb. 6, 2003)--A reception was held Tuesday night at the San Antonio Country Club to recognize the establishment of the Neil Denton Memorial Endowed Scholarship in the UTSA College of Business.
At left are Bill Lane, president of the Governors Club, Holly Denton and Bruce Bublitz, dean of the College of Business.
Denton, a member of the college's business advisory council, was killed in a boating accident last March. As a charter member of the Governors Club, he was instrumental in establishing the Governors Club Endowed Scholarship, the largest endowment in the College of Business.
Following Denton's death, Governors Club members decided to create a living legacy and form a new scholarship in his name. Since the fund was established, more than 100 individuals or businesses have chosen to remember Denton by making contributions to the scholarship fund.
The group included fellow Governors Club members, family members, friends and coworkers. The endowment now totals $46,000.
The Neil Denton Scholarship will be awarded to full-time students in the College of Business, with a preference for graduate students. Future recipients will be known as Neil Denton Scholars.
