Toyota president and Texas governor at ITC press conference

Governor welcomes Toyota president at UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures

(Feb. 10, 2003)--Governor Rick Perry, at right, greets Fujio Cho, president of Toyota, at a Feb. 10 news conference at UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures.

The event centered on expressing appreciation to Toyota officials for the decision to build a truck manufacturing facilty in San Antonio.

Among numerous officials at the event were Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, Joe McKinney of the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, San Antonio Mayor Ed Garza and UTSA President Ricardo Romo.

The 2,000-employee San Antonio plant, representing an $800 million investment, will manufacture the Tundra pickup truck. Toyota, the fourth-largest automaker in America, will open the San Antonio facility in 2006.
