Alumni advocate for UTSA at Legislative Day in Austin Feb. 11

(Feb. 27, 2003)--Alumni who are strong supporters of Texas higher education hosted UTSA Legislative Day in Austin Tuesday, Feb. 11.

As the 78th Legislative Session approaches, there are many challenges facing Texas and its higher education institutions. UTSA alumni had the opportunity to speak for over 55,000 graduates on behalf of the institution's needs.

UTSA advocates had the opportunity to share information with State Senators Frank Madla (District 19), Jeff Wentworth (District 25), Leticia Van de Putte (District 26) and Judith Zaffirini (District 21) on issues of critical importance to UTSA and all of higher education.

Alumni board members also visited with State Representatives Robert Puente (District 119), Elizabeth Ames Jones (District 121), Carlos Uresti (District 118), Jose Menendez (District 124), UTSA alumnus Ken Mercer (District 117), Joaquin Castro (District 125) and staff members of Representatives Frank Corte (District 122), Ruth Jones McClendon (District 120) and UTSA alumnus Trey Martinez-Fisher (District 116).
