UTSA Downtown Campus evacuation plan updated
(Feb. 20, 2003)--The UTSA Downtown campus evacuation plan has been updated and training sessions were conducted Tuesday, February 18 for the evacuation plan safety coordinators and building captains.
Key elements of the plan are:
- Identification of first level exterior doors and all building stairwells as evacuation routes (except for Buena Vista Street Building central glass stairwell)
- Elevators must not be used for evacuation
- Bill Miller Plaza as the campus assembly area
- Guidelines for assisting persons with physical impairments
- Area safety coordinators and building captains
The evacuation plan document is posted in the network public folders and can be accessed by UTSA faculty and staff through Outlook at "Public Folders," "All Public Folders," "DT Campus," "Important Information" and "DTC Evacuation Plan."
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the plan and the building evacuation procedure in the event of an emergency and to know the locations of all fire extinguishers, pull alarms and exit locations for their particular office or classroom areas.
For more information concerning the evacuation plan and campus emergency preparedness, contact the Office of Emergency Preparedness at (210) 458-4753.
