
James S. Nairne
Purdue University psychologist to discuss the adaptive mind
(Feb. 19, 2003)--James S. Nairne, professor of psychological sciences at Purdue University, will speak on "The Deep Structure of Working Memory" from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 in UTSA Humanities and Social Science Building Room 2.01.36 on the 1604 Campus.
The lecture, sponsored by the Wadsworth division of Thompson Learning, is free and open to the public.
Nairne received his undergraduate training at the University of California at Berkeley and his Ph.D. in psychology from Yale University. He is an active researcher in cognitive psychology, specializing in human memory, and has published dozens of articles in professional journals. He is currently associate editor for Psychonomic Bulletin and Review and a past associate editor of the Journal of Memory and Language.
Additionally, Nairne has been recognized for excellence in teaching, and is the author of "Psychology: The Adaptive Mind," the text used in UTSA's introductory psychology classes.
