Technology network reception to welcome SATAI director

(Feb. 11, 2003)--The SATAI Network and SA TeK NetworX will host a reception from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 at Sunset Station in downtown San Antonio.

Guest of honor at the event is Randy Goldsmith, SATAI executive director. SATAI (San Antonio Technology Accelerator Initiative) is housed at the UTSA Downtown Campus.

The mixer is open to all who are involved in the technology community. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 with proceeds going to technology scholarships. Appetizers and one drink are covered by the donation, with a cash bar available.

The event is an opportunity for the technology and entrepreneurial communities to meet Goldsmith, who recently became the SATAI executive director. Goldsmith and the SATAI team will be on hand to talk about SATAI projects and goals. Sponsors are Alan Weinkrantz and Company, Ernst & Young, ILEX Oncology, SecureInfo and ThinkSpark.

The SATAI Network facilitates collaboration between industry, academia, government and institutions to foster the acceleration of the development of the San Antonio regional technology economy. SATAI began in 1999 as a grass-roots effort to develop the San Antonio technology economy. Today, the organization has more than 1,000 members and plays a key role in initiatives furthering the entrepreneurial environment and opportunities produced by a tech economy.

SA TeK NetworX was formed to benefit the regional interest in technology by launching networking events that generate contributions to local college and university technology scholarship funds. To date, over $20,000 in scholarships has been raised through sponsors and participants.
