Romos named grand marshals of Battle of Flowers Parade

(Jan. 9, 2003)--University of Texas at San Antonio President Ricardo Romo and his wife Harriett Romo, UTSA associate professor of sociology, were selected as grand marshals for the 2003 Battle of Flowers Parade during Fiesta San Antonio.

Above, at the Jan. 8 announcement of the honor at Alamo Plaza, Harriett Romo (at podium) and Ricardo Romo (right) express their appreciation to event officials.

"It's a great honor for me because I grew up in San Antonio," said President Romo.

The parade through downtown San Antonio will be April 24 with the theme "An American Panorama: A Celebration of the Land of the Free."
