UTSA basketball teams go on the road this weekend
(Jan. 24, 2003)--The University of Texas at San Antonio men's and women's basketball teams travel to San Marcos this weekend to take on Southland Conference foe Southwest Texas State University. The women's game starts at 5:45 p.m., while the men hit the court at 8 p.m.
The men's team comes off a 77-56 loss to Stephen F. Austin, who remain undefeated in conference play with an 8-0 record.
The Roadrunners could see the return of forward Leroy Hurd, who was leading the team in scoring and rebounding before suffering a knee sprain in a 66-51 loss against McNeese St.
Meanwhile, the UTSA women's basketball team enters Saturday's match-up on a roll winning five of their last six games including a 64-50 win over Stephen F. Austin. The victory snaps a 25-game losing streak against the Lady Lumberjacks, an annual contender in the NCAA tournament.
Center Tanisha Jackson led UTSA with 15 points, Nikki Hendrix added 14 and Dewella Holliday scored 10 points in the contest.
