UTSA-based program honors H-E-B for community service

(Jan. 6, 2003)--The H-E-B Grocery Co. will be honored for its commitment and service to San Antonio's youth at a mentor recognition luncheon at noon Jan. 9 in the Texas Ballroom of the Adam's Mark Hotel, 111 Pecan Street. Former Governor Dolph Briscoe will present the honor.

Hosted by the San Antonio: Making Mentoring A Partnership (SA: MMAP) program based at the University of Texas at San Antonio, the luncheon is part of the local observance of the second annual National Mentoring Month, organized by the National Mentoring Partnership. Luncheon sponsors are H.E. Butt Grocery Co., H.B. Zachry, SBC Communications Inc. and USAA.

Tickets for the luncheon are $50 each or $500 for corporate tables of 10. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the UTSA special events office at (210) 458-2764. The deadline for reservations is Jan. 7. Payment can be made in advance via check or credit card, or at the door. Registration is 11:30 a.m. with the event beginning at noon.

San Antonio: Making Mentoring a Partnership connects mentors from business, higher education and professional organizations with students from Bexar County schools.
