Visitors see double at UTSA Tomas Rivera Center
(June 9, 2003)--Students visiting the Tomas Rivera Center for Student Success (TRC) at the UTSA Downtown Campus are seeing double these days -- the TRC employs two sets of twins, Mario and David Gonzalez and Clinton and Winton Roberson. The Roberson brothers have been with the TRC for three years, while the Gonzalez brothers are new tutors.

Mario and David Gonzalez have a stellar academic record, graduating 2nd and 3rd respectively from Poteet High School. The brothers were among 35 in the nation to earn the prestigious National Microsoft Scholarship.
When the Gonzalez brothers are not tutoring math or concentrating on their school work, they manage a health supplement business and volunteer at their church. They also find time to participate at UTSA in the Leadership Basics 101 program and are members of Sigma Kappa Upsilon, a sophomore honor society.
During leisure time, the Gonzalez twins like to play basketball, go dancing and play the guitar and drums. As for their career aspirations, they plan to work together as business technology entrepreneurs.
Clinton and Winton Roberson are from Pleasanton, Texas. Clinton, a math major, and Winton, an economics major, have consistently made the dean's list for the last three years. In their spare time, they enjoy competing against their fellow Roadrunners at the Downtown Campus recreation center, where Winton is the reigning ping-pong champion and Clinton is the 9-ball billiards champ.
Winton hopes to earn a Ph.D. in economics and become a professor at his alma
mater. Clinton aspires to become a math professor.
"I feel very fortunate to have such talented students as part of the tutoring and supplemental instruction leader staff," said Lorenzo Villarreal, TRC learning assistance coordinator. "I'm especially pleased with how the veteran twins are mentoring the younger twins."
The Tomas Rivera Center for Student Success has offices at the UTSA 1604 and Downtown campuses. TRC is an academic support unit dedicated to providing services to promote student success through academic advising, learning assistance, supplemental instruction and specialized retention programs.
