Sen. John Cornyn tours new UTSA center at Brooks City-Base
(June 24, 3003)--U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, recently toured newly renovated Building 175W at Brooks City-Base.
The facility will house the Center for Excellence in Biotechnology and Bioprocessing Education and Research (CEBBER), an educational partnership between UTSA and the Air Force Institute for Environment, Safety and Occupational Health Risk Analysis.
Pictured at a press conference before the tour are Cornyn; Charlie Amato, chairman of the San Antonio Military Missions Task Force; Howard Peak, president of the Brooks Development Authority and former San Antonio mayor; and Ricardo Romo, UTSA president.
While at Brooks, Cornyn discussed the base's future and other issues with representatives from the City of San Antonio, Bexar County and the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
The 8,000-square-foot facility will be used to train military and civilian personnel to handle vaccines, biosensors and other biological products to prepare San Antonio to assist in national vaccine demands. A dedication for the facility is planned for later this summer.
