UTSA College of Business adds infrastructure assurance programs
(June 20, 2003)--The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Business will offer two new degree programs in infrastructure assurance beginning this fall.
At the graduate level, infrastructure assurance will be a concentration in the master of science degree in information technology. Coursework includes Telecommunication Systems, Introduction to Voice and Data Security, Security Risk Analysis and Security Incident Response.
Undergraduate students can pursue a bachelor's of business administration degree in infrastructure assurance. Coursework includes Secure Network Design, Wide Area Networks, Information Assurance and Security, Secure Electronic Commerce and Information Assurance Policy.
Students selecting this degree field will develop special expertise in the computer and information security arena. Receiving hands-on training, they will learn how to protect and defend information systems by ensuring their availability, integrity, authentication and confidentiality.
The infrastructure assurance program was named a Center of Academic Excellence in information assurance education by the National Security Agency. This designation has been granted to only 50 programs in the nation.
"This program was created due to the increasing need for properly trained information assurance professionals," said Bruce Bublitz, dean of the College of Business. "As one of the leading academic institutions in this field, we are charged with becoming a knowledge resource, a training ground for needed information assurance professionals and a defender of the national information infrastructure."
The UTSA College of Business is accredited by AACSB International, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
