UTSA announces new institutional diversity leadership team

(June 5, 2003)--University of Texas at San Antonio President Ricardo Romo announces the establishment of a new leadership team for the Office of Institutional Diversity (OID). Veronica Rosas-Tatum, executive director, and Brenda Barron, interim assistant director, will spearhead the UTSA diversity program.

Rosas-Tatum joins UTSA with more than 22 years of experience as a litigation and labor-law paralegal, discrimination complaint investigator and other work including strategic development and EEO/diversity training.

"Rosas-Tatum's direct experience in all facets of an EEO/diversity program is a tremendous asset to UTSA as it moves forward to redefine its diversity goals and strategic planning," said Romo.

Barron has more than 20 years of experience in administrative management. She has served at UTSA for eleven years including responsibilities in employee relations and training programs for facilities services and the Office of Legal Affairs.

The OID is responsible for the UTSA affirmative action plan, diversity committee, sexual harassment and discrimination complaint resolution, diversity education programs and faculty and staff recruitment.
