President Romo to appoint committee on tuition and fees
(June 27, 2003)--UTSA President Ricardo Romo will appoint a committee to advise him on tuition and fees in light of the Texas Legislature's decision to allow university governing boards to determine the best rates for their individual institutions.
"Forming this committee is the first step we must take before we can request any changes to our tuition and fees beginning in the spring of 2004," Romo said. "As UTSA continues to evolve into a tier-one university, the work of this group is crucial to the future of all UTSA students."
Co-chairs of the committee are Rosalie Ambrosino, vice president for student affairs, and Richard Lewis Jr., presidential fellow. Their first charge will be to recommend committee members to the president.
"We have a very diverse student population at both the Downtown Campus and the 1604 Campus, and we feel it is essential to appoint a committee that reflects the face of UTSA," said Ambrosino.
Faculty, staff and students can send nominations for the committee to the UTSA Office of Student Affairs, John Peace Library Building Room 4.04.12, 1604 Campus.
The deadline for nominations is July 9; the first committee meeting is July 16.
