Hillel at UTSA to host model Seder April 2
(March 28, 2003)--In preparation for the Passover holiday, Hillel at UTSA will host a model Seder for UTSA students, faculty, and staff at 6:30 p.m. April 2 in the University Center Pecan Room (2.01.26) on the 1604 Campus. The event is free and open to all.
A social gathering is planned from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by discussion of the Passover Seder and a dinner. A local rabbi will lead the event.
A Jewish religious observance, Seder is a feast commemorating the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt. Taking place the first two nights of the eight-day holiday, the Seder is the most important event in the Passover celebration. Usually gathering the whole family and friends together, it is based in long-held traditions and customs.
The Passover Hagaddah, the book read during the Seder, will be read and discussed in relation to the present world situation and considered as an educational tool to transcend the destructive forces of the world, according to Rosalind Horowitz, professor of interdisciplinary studies and Hillel adviser.
To make a reservation for the event, call (210) 458-2008 or e-mail Rosalind
Horowitz. Deadline for reservations is March 31.
