Teachers to learn about online virtual communities

(March 26, 2003)--Faculty will have the opportunity to learn about online collaborative tools for working and communicating at the "Community Tertulia: Virtual Communities of Practice" workshop Tuesday, April 1, in Multidisciplinary Studies Building Room 3.02.12. Sessions are from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Are you a teacher who spends a lot of time going to and from committee meetings? Do you belong to work groups that exchange files, take notes, discuss or debate what to do next?

Do your students need to interact outside of classes and across program areas? If you can answer "yes" to any of these questions, you are invited to the tertulia (tair-too-le-ah), a Spanish word that means "informal discussion group."

Registration for a discussion group is required. After registering, participants will receive an active account in two virtual communities for hands-on activities during the session.

The sessions are sponsored through an AACTE/Microsoft Innovative Teaching Grant.
