UTSA awards diplomas to more than 1,700 graduates

(May 12, 2003)—More than 1,700 students participated in commencement exercises May 10 at The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Students from the College of Liberal and Fine Arts, the College of Public Policy and the School of Architecture received diplomas during the first of three ceremonies held in the Convocation Center on the 1604 Campus. State Rep. Ken Mercer, a UTSA alumnus, was the keynote speaker.

Hector Barreto, administrator for the Small Business Administration spoke during mid-day ceremonies for the College of Business and the College of Engineering, while Yvonne Katz, superintendent of the Spring Branch ISD and a UTSA alumna, addressed participants in the final ceremony for the College of Education and Human Development and the College of Sciences.
