UTSA alumnus awarded Getty graduate internship

(May 16, 2003)--University of Texas at San Antonio graduate Greg Dobie was recently awarded a 2003-2004 Getty graduate internship with the education department of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

Dobie, a 2001 graduate from the UTSA College of Education and Human Development, will work on an art education project for adult ESL students and compile an annotated bibliography of museum education source materials.

"I'm determined to unify my editorial, ESL teaching and cultural studies background in a museum education setting," said Dobie.

Getty internships are offered by several programs of the Getty Trust including the Museum, Research Institute, Conservation Institute and Grant programs. The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks to inspire and educate the public by acquiring, conserving, studying, exhibiting and interpreting works of art within its field of collection.

The Getty Research Institute (GRI) is dedicated to encouraging, enabling and inspiring advanced scholarship about the visual arts. The Getty Conservation Institute GCI) pursues a broad range of activities dedicated to furthering conservation practice and education to enhance and encourage the preservation, understanding and interpretation of the visual arts. The Getty Grant Program funds a diverse range of international projects that promote learning and scholarship about the history of the visual arts and the conservation of cultural heritage.
