Omar

Omar Leonardo Quimbaya 齐漠 is a man that truly values the significance and impact of both the spoken and written word. A San Antonio native but descendent of immigrants from Puerto Rico and Colombia, he is currently pursuing his BA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing, which he will receive in May 2010. He is a performance poet and enjoys being the center of attention. He is not afraid to stand in front of a group of people and discuss writing, which you will more than likely find him doing for the Writing Center.

He has a fondness for culture and foreign languages, and he is currently studying Mandarin Chinese. After graduation, Omar plans to work in China as an English teacher for a year or two, then join the Peace Corps and serve another two years abroad, then attend graduate school, then become a Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State, and eventually become and ambassador to promote a peaceful existence between the United States and the People’s Republic of China. It’s a tall order, but Omar believes one must strive for personal greatness in order to give the most back to people and encourage harmony. All in all, if you have any questions about how to write papers, how to use grammar correctly, or why is multiculturalism an important movement in the United States, come to the Writing Center, and he will help you out with the first two. The last one you probably already know; you just haven’t thought too much about it yet.
