Mission Statement
The mission of the Judith G. Gardner Center for Writing Excellence (The Writing Center) is to assist student writers in becoming more confident and competent writers. All UTSA students should work toward achieving a high level of writing proficiency so that when they enter the workplace, they will succeed. The Writing Center will offer assistance at any stage of the writing process: brainstorming, drafting, developing ideas; and/or organizing materials.
We want every student to reach his or her full potential as a writer. Since students who write well will likely have more confidence, they are more likely to persist and attain the college degree. Therefore, The Writing Center provides tutorial services to enable students to grow into the most successful writers possible. In addition, The Center strives to be the writing resource that the entire University community--undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines--uses. We further wish to assist professors who require writing in their courses and encourage others to add writing. As writing across the curriculum comes to fruition, The Writing Center will play a central supporting role.
