The Writing Program is saddened to announce the death of its director, Judith Gardner, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Judy joined the UTSA faculty in 1980. She was a consummate teacher, loved and respected by both students and colleagues.
In recognition of her talent and dedication, she received numerous prestigious awards, including the first Teaching Excellence Award for non-tenure track faculty, the Minnie Stevens Piper Professor 2001, and two University Life Awards, one for Outstanding Faculty and the other for Outstanding Registered Student Organization Advisor (for Golden Key).
A memorial service service will be held at Porter Loring--1604 on Saturday, May 31 at 11 a.m.
