Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Economics
The minimum semester credit hours for the Bachelor of Arts degree in
Economics is 120.
All candidates seeking this degree must fulfill the Core Curriculum
requirements and the degree requirements, which are listed below. Top
Core Curriculum requirements: Students seeking the Bachelor
of Arts degree in Economics must fulfill University Core Curriculum
requirements in the same manner as other students. The courses listed
in the table below satisfy both degree requirements and Core Curriculum
requirements; however, if these courses are taken to satisfy both requirements,
then students will need to take additional courses in order to meet
the minimum number of semester credit hours required for this degree.

In addition to the Core Curriculum requirements, all candidates for
the degree must complete the following degree requirements. Thirty-nine
of the total hours required for the degree must be at the upper-division

Within the 39 additional semester credit hours, 12 semester credit hours
of social science electives selected from American studies (AMS), anthropology
(ANT), icultural-bilingual studies (BBL), criminal justice (CRJ), geography
(GRG), history (HIS), political science (POL), psychology (PSY), and
sociology (SOC). Top
Professional Economist (13 semester credit hours required)
Within the 21 semester credit hours of upper-level economics, students
choosing this option must take ECO 3113
and ECO 3123.
Within the 39 additional semester credit hours, students choosing this
option must take MAT 1214
