ADDENDUM OF CHANGES IN UTSA
ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This Addendum presents the organizational changes made within the UTSA Athletic Department since Carr Sports Associates, Inc., submitted the first draft of the Football Feasibility Study in June 2006. This addendum and the attached organizational chart (see Exhibit 4) present several changes in reporting lines and responsibilities. These adjustments are gradual steps toward creating the internal and external "management clusters" recommended in the Study by Carr Sports Associates, Inc.

1. To prioritize responsibilities and thus enable the current Associate Director of External Affairs to concentrate on fundraising, particularly contributions at the mid to large gift levels, the staff has been re-organized as described below:

  1. The Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing has been moved to be a direct report to the Director of Athletics. This position will have oversight of the Marketing Coordinator, the Ticket Manager, and the Spirit Program Director.

  2. The Director of Sports Information has been moved to be a direct report to the Director of Athletics.

  3. The Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance has been given the additional duties of oversight of the Roadrunner Club and the Annual Fund. This staff member will also be in charge of Internal Operations and will have sport supervision of men's and women's tennis and the strength and conditioning coach.

  4. The Program Coordinator will now report to the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs and will assist with outside fundraisers and Roadrunner Club solicitations and events.

2. The Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator will have fewer sport responsibilities but will retain oversight of NCAA Championships and the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program.

3. Four new positions are being added to the Department: an additional full-time trainer, an assistant Strength and Conditioning coach, and an additional academic advisor. The fourth position is being added to the Track program. The Head Cross Country Coach which was working with both the men's and women's teams will now just coach the women and a new distance coach will be added for the men. This will allow staffs of the men and women's teams to be entirely separate.

4. The Director of Athletics will have sports supervision of both Men's and Women's Track and Field teams.
