Greetings from the President

Dear Friend,
Growth continues at UTSA as we work toward premier research university status.

On Nov. 5, we will celebrate our vision for growth with a symbolic cornerstone laying for UTSA's future and a celebration of the new engineering building now under construction.

Please join us, along with special guests State Sen. Judith Zaffirini, State Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, State Sen. Jeff Wentworth, State Sen. Carlos Uresti and UT System Chancellor Mark Yudof, as we unveil the new strategic plan.

With more than 28,500 students enrolled this fall, the number of students living on campus grew with the opening of Laurel Village -- part of UTSA's mission to increase student success with easier access to services and support.

UTSA scholarship resources were enhanced with the recent Alumni Rising Star Gala and the Mariachi Scholarship Concert in honor of Grammy-winner Vikki Carr. Also, UTSA was fortunate to receive generous gifts from the estates of educator Arcadia Hernandez Lopez and business leader Jacqueline Eugenia Ramsdell.

Finally, the President's Scholarship and Awards Dinner is Oct. 23, where we honor two South Texans and announce major donors for the year.

And, mark your calendar for the eighth annual "Great Conversation!" Feb. 26, combining an evening of good food with stimulating chat, while supporting Honors College scholars.

I hope to see you at these important upcoming events.

Regards,

Ricardo Romo
President,
The University of Texas at San Antonio
