Teach CoursesUTeach Courses: UTE 1011, UTE 1021, and UTE 1031These three, one-hour courses are the first step toward teacher certification for grades 8-12 mathematics or science. They substitute for IDS 2013. Field-based experiences required. UTE 1011 Rationale UTE 1011 introduces students to the prospect of mathematics and science teaching as a career choice through hands-on experiences while observing and teaching in an elementary classroom. Students will work in teams with an exemplary elementary teacher (UTeach Mentor) at one of the local school districts participating in mathematics and science classes. Class activities will emphasize the qualities of good mathematics and science teaching including standards-based instruction and the integration of reso  urces into effective class planning. UTE 1021 Rationale UTE 1021 builds on the teaching practices, lesson plan design, and instructional models that were used in UTE 1011, but in a middle school setting. UTE 1031 Rationale |
