UTSA Meal Purchase Options

Welcome to the world of UTSA Dining Services, the official food service provider for the University of Texas at San Antonio!  We are dedicated to bringing you the best quality food and service. We offer more than 8 locations on campus, including one residential dining facility and favorite national brands like Subway, Einstein Bros Bagels, Starbucks, and more. This page provides information on UTSA Meal Plans and the commuter student Passport Meal Option.

Meal Plans

A meal plan is guaranteed meals or Dining Dollars that a student can use only at Dining Facilities on campus. All students who reside in Laurel Village or Chisholm Hall are required to purchase a meal plan. Students residing in Chisholm Hall and University Oaks may purchase a meal plan, but it is not required. Unused Meals or Dining Dollars are forfeited at the end of each Semester. All of our meal plans consist of meals and dining dollars. The Meal Plans are recommended for all students and is the most economical, flexible, and fun way to eat on campus. We offer a variety of options to fit your lifestyle. Choose from one of the many plans described below. In addition to the “meals-per-semester” plans, we also offer Rowdy Dollars which you can deposit money at any time of the semester.

What is the advantage of buying a Meal Plan vs. using Rowdy Dollars?

A meal plan is guaranteed meals or Dining Dollars that a student can use only at Dining Facilities on campus. Rowdy Dollars can be used virtually anywhere on campus. Some students tend to use Rowdy Dollars for purchases other than food and thus end up hungry. Rowdy Dollars roll from semester to semester as long as the student is enrolled at the University. Unused Meals or Dining Dollars are forfeited at the end of each Semester.

Who is the Meal Plan best suited for?

Anyone! However, students/parents who want to make sure that they will have a definite number of meals and be able to continue eating all semester long or until the student has consumed all the meals available on their plan are most interested.

Where can I use my Meal Plan?

Meals can only be used at Roadrunner Café. Dining Dollars can be used at all other Campus Dining Facilities (JPL Food Court, University Center Food Court, BB Marketplace, Subway, Starbucks, Einstein Bros Bagels and the Downtown Food Court).

  • Roadrunner Café is an “all-you-can-eat” buffet style facility and offers many options. Menus are posted for the entire semester on the Dine-on-Campus web site (www.dineoncampus.com/utsa/)
  • Remaining Dining Facilities offer a variety of food choices including nationally recognized franchises.

How do I get a Meal Plan?

If you are Chaparral or Laurel Village Resident, all contracts and payments should be made to them. For University Oaks, Chisholm Hall and Commuters, complete the process and contract on-line through ASAP. Use the link and forms to select your desired Meal Plan and payment method. The charges will be automatically assessed to your ASAP tuition and fees account where you can make payment on-line or at a Fiscal Services Office.

Facts about the Meal Plan

  • Meals and Dining Dollars are forfeited at the end of each contract period (Semester).

  • Meals and Dining Dollars do NOT roll forward to future semesters.

  • Up to three (3) meals can be used per meal period (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) for a total of nine (9) on weekdays and six (6) on weekends (Brunch, Dinner).

  • After Census date (12th class day of semester), no changes can be made to your meal plan. Until then, you can change which plan you are on without penalty. If you cancel your meal plan before census date, you are still responsible for a prorated portion of the meal plan based on meals consumed or days on the plan. Cancellation can only occur before Census date of the Fall Semester or Census day of the Spring Semester if patron was not enrolled in the Fall Semester.

  • Each time you use your meal plan, your meals remaining balance will be displayed at the register. Reports are available upon request in the UTSACard Office.
