UTSA Registrar Office

***Attn: Veterans applying for Post 9/11 GI Bill***

Only those Veterans wanting to switch to the new Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill) need to re-apply to the VA. We are unable to certify enrollment verifications for those electing Chapter 33 until we receive a new Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and a copy of your DD-214 (member 4 copy). Make note that this election is irrevocable. The new Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 GI Bill) application is available online at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website. Veterans that will be continuing with their current chapters do not need to re-apply to VA and may submit their certification request forms AFTER they are registered for classes.

Welcome to the UTSA Veterans Certification Office Website!

The UTSA Veterans Certification office is part of the University, not a division of the United States Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). We serve as a liaison between the VA and those students of UTSA participating in a VA educational program. There is no official VA representative on campus at UTSA.

Our office can assist with the processing of VA forms required for educational benefits. We are primarily here to certify student enrollment to the VA.

Student entitlement is based on VA regulations. Monthly payment is determined by the number of credit hours for which that student is enrolled.

Our office can assist with the processing of VA forms required to determine eligibility as well as certify student enrollment to the VA. If the VA finds a problem with any paperwork of certification, the Veteran Affairs Regional Office (VARO), will report the problem in writing to the student. It is the responsibility of the student to respond to any letter that is sent to them by the VARO.

The UTSA Veterans Certification office will be glad to assist students seeking VA education benefits and answer any questions that may arise during the process. In order to assist each student to the fullest with their certification, we strive to ensure each student fulfills their responsibilities under the VA program.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have questions or comments regarding the Hazlewood exemption, please contact the Financial Aid Office at (210)458-8000 or financialaid@utsa.edu
